For 80 years, the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (NCNW) – Detroit Section has been a cornerstone of the metro Detroit community — advancing equity, uplifting families, and creating lasting pathways to opportunity. Rooted in the enduring legacy of our founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, our work has touched over 40,000 community members, served more than 5,000 women and families, delivered over 400 programs and events, and recognized 125 transformative leaders through our Mary McLeod Bethune Leadership Awards.
Today, our work continues through our Core Four priorities: Health Equity, STEAM Education, Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, and Social Justice and Civic Engagement — each designed to build a stronger, healthier, and more equitable Detroit.
Our 80th Anniversary Gala is more than a milestone celebration. It is a moment to honor our legacy, elevate transformative leaders, and fuel the next chapter of our mission.
